Friends of Eldorado schedule first work party for December 1FROM THE FRIENDS OF ELDORADO Okay everyone, we have all joined Friends of Eldorado, now it's time to put our commitment on the Forest floor! This first work-part is VERY important! We know it will be very late in the year to do this but we need one work event to get this organization off the ground. The Forest Service is extremely excited about what we can do, so now its time to show them AND the public that the OHV community cares about the entire forest, not just our 4x4 trails! On December 1, 2007 we are going to have our first work party. It will consist of clearing brush from the side of road 10N57, Cosumnes Mine Road. The road is 4.5 miles long and we will be working in various locations along it, starting from the beginning. The plan is that we will need at least 30+ people for about 6 hours; most work will be done by hand with loppers for cutting brush. The brush will be piled on the side of the road and a Forest Service employee will come by with a truck and chipper to chip the material. We are hoping to have a few of us chainsaw certified by this event to allow cutting of the thicker stalks. To make sure that we do not waste time and energy, it will be done in the same stle as FOTR work-parties using the RICS system. The project is located starting at the junction of North South Road and 10N57. From highway 50 at Sly Park exit (exit 60) go south on Sly Park for 4.7 miles, then left on Iron Mountain Road/Mormon Emigrant trail for 11.0 miles. Turn right on North South Road for 2.8miles and right on 10N57. We will start at 9am. Any vehicle can drive there as long as there is no snow on the ground. All roads are paved. We need commitments if you can make it!!!! We need people with loppers and gloves. There is no heavy work, just easy manual labor. We will need just a few trailers to move heavier downed logs and slash. We will provide food and drinks. Please contact Kurt if you can attend! Also, please contact Kurt if you cannot make it, but are still interested in hearing about the next project. For more information about the Friends of Eldorado, visit friendsofeldorado.com |
